Chromebooks obviously run on Google’s self-brewed operating system, Chrome OS. The OS doesn’t allow applications to be locally installed, but it also doesn’t require anti-virus software because the netbook itself is very secure. The entire OS is basically the Google Chrome web browser, made bootable, with a few extra perks thrown in. If you do find that you need to run a desktop app, you can stream them from a remote Windows Server using a new piece of software called Citrix Receiver....

Google has already updated the app for users of Android 3.2, so users of different versions got completely different experiences. Now, things have been put back in order, as the new update makes the YouTube app very similar. The new app now has the same user interface as the the newer versions of Google’s mobile OS and it also features preloading. This lets you watch videos in your queue while charging your device or while on a faster network without annoying buffer times....

Design & Functionality The overall design of the Android app is taken from the streamlined Windows 8 interface. Files are categorized into neat tiles (or thumbnails for photos) that can either be viewed in a grid or list style. Files can be selected by tapping directly on them and you’re given all available options such as Share link, Download to Device and Delete. You can also edit an entire folder by switching to list view and checking the box beside a folder name....

He found that an iOS 7 device grants partial device access without entering the locks-screen passcode by performing a simple set of tasks. Apple iTunes 10.5 is brand new, released just a day before the Apple iOS planned launch tomorrow. It includes the final version, it says, of iTunes in the Cloud. This give you features like automatic downloading of previous purchases and WiFi syncing. Interestingly, iTunes 10.5 doesn’t require or even include the old Apple standby QuickTime. The annual study reveals the top companies in terms of investment in research & development, as well as how that money is spent, or which industry spends more in said field. It’s a pretty interesting read, and you can check out the PDF here. A part of the study involves determining the world’s most innovative companies. These are decided by survey participants which include executives from 700 companies. For the third year in a row, Apple has topped the most innovative company chart, followed by Google, and 3M came in third place....

The glasses are currently in the hands of developers and haven’t been made available to the general public, and there’s already a movement to ban them from public places. It seemed to start with a bar in Seattle banning them (arguably a smart publicity stunt) and lawmakers in West Virginia pushing a law that bans them while driving. iPhone Gesturing Copy and paste and other text-based commands have improved in iOS 13. To copy text after selecting it, pinch-in with three fingers. The paste, perform the opposite command, again with three fingers. To undo a command, use a three-finger left-swipe gesture; to redo, use a three-finger gesture to the right.
